Pedestrian killed on Highway 92 in San Mateo

(KRON) -- Multiple lanes of Highway 92 west of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge were blocked Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was killed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities were notified around 6:15 a.m. of a pedestrian who was walking in the left lane. CHP said the pedestrian was found deceased under the Mariners Island Boulevard overpass on Highway 92, east of Highway 101.

No further details about the victim were immediately released.

“A witness described a possible white Ford Pickup Truck with a rack on the roof that stopped but unknown if the truck was involved,” a CHP spokesperson told KRON4.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes and expect delays. All lanes were reopened just after 7:30 a.m.
